We are running exchange 2003 sp2 and Outlook 2003 sp2. Last week several
emails that were six months old were somehow sent out from a users mailbox to
a number of other people. The strange thing is that we have a policy in
place that deletes mail after 30 days from a user's inbox, sent items and
deleted items. As far as I know, this policy has been effective on all other
mailboxes. However, when I checked this particular user's sent items there
were a few dozen emails remaining from six months previous that contained the
emails that were inadvertently sent out. Also, all of the six months old
emails in this user's sent items show a modify date of when some of them were
recently sent out a few days ago.
I am not sure what to make of this, the problem seems to be isolated to this
one user at this point. Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Derek
