old home page continues to publish after deletion

My old home page was deleted and replaced and somehow
continues to show up. I have searched to find it to no
avail on my system and on the remote site. I publish
with replace all files not just files that have changed.
How can I find and get rid of the old home page? I can't
even find it to change it.

oddly enough the one that actually deletes unmatching files (in my
experience) is "changed files only".

Clear your browser cache
Go to your site "live" and see if the new file is there
I am assuming you are talking about the index.html
