Old story 2001 crash after upgrade

I have decided to try again to upgrade from 8.2 but 2001 keeps
crashing after a second.
8.2 still works perfectly but 2001 will always crash after opening.
I run 10.3.1 Classic, with host and TCP/IP prefs OK
Calendar empty
Exchange prefs trashed and recreated
No meetings or events or tasks in shchedule

Any idea how to fix this ?

Can you test putting the Outlook 2001 folder on a different volume or disk
partition (even a disk image - .dmg) and see if it will launch then?

Also, what do you mean by "crash"? That's a pretty generic term, but doesn't
indicate what happens, such as bombs, application quits, crash log appears,
etc.

I do not have/want partitions, different volumes, so I have tried a
few more tricks to understand step by step what could cause the
symptoms.

So here is the sequence :

Removed all special rules from the server, inbox assistant, signature,
permissions to my assistant, etc..
Deleted all Outlook related files, applications, prefs, etc.
Reinstalled OL2001 from scratch.

Upon first launch I have configured to work only online, and then
OL2001 worked fine for a long time !!!!
Although I think it crashed once as it had been standind idle for a
few minute it was OK when I tried to quit and relaunch several times
in a row.
No personnal folder, personnal address book etc... at this stage, just
the application in connect mode.

I then changed the Exchange parameters to enable working offline,
setting up an offline folder, and synchronized.
It was also all OK until I quit for the first time.

When I quit and relaunched, OL2001 opened but disappeared after 1-2
seconds.
Then, every time I launched OL2001 again, it opened fine but quits
after a second or 2.

After a few tries, I launched OL2001 in offline mode, not connect,
and.. it worked fine in offline mode, displaying the synchronized
mails OK.
I then quit and retried to connect. No luck, same pb again.

I then went back to the offline mode and disabled offline capability,
quit and relaunch with connection and... it worked again fine in
connect mode.

Same cycle of pb if I try to enable offline mode again.

I therefore think my problem is that OL2001 cannot find the right
folders for synchronisation upon launch when you have the work offline
option on.

Is there any special place to put the offline folder file or preffered
option to configure them (low/high encryption, security options,
etc...) ?

Any other idea ?
