Old WORD pages with drawings on no longer readable

I don't know at what point this happened but the backwards
compatibility has been lost. I have for example a document which
describes all the systems and maintenance of our village hall which I
created over 2 years back.
I have just come to update it and it is no longer accessible. I have
many drawings of cars that I created for my car club and I checked
several and they also are not able to be opened.

On trying to open them it opens up a small window asking what file
type they are. If I enter Microsoft WORD it brings up another small
window saying there is an Incorrect Document Syntax on Location 1

It is a disaster if I can no longer read all my old documents. If
anyone wants me to send them an example file please let me know

I am using Word for MAC 2008 v12.3.2 (111121)
OS X 10.6.8

What version of Word were the documents created in, Keith?

Patty

Hello Patty, I am afraid I don't know but some were done on a PC
prior to my moving to a MAC 3 years ago and some have been done on the
MAC.

I've rarely had problems moving Word documents between a PC and a
Mac (not an acronym!), but maybe it's happened to you. Or it's more
of a version problem than a platform problem. Can you find someone
with a Windows system who could try reading them and saving them out
as a more recent Windows file type that might work better with your
Mac Word 2008?
