OLE and Edit Image Object Problems

I hope someone can help. Help from this group so far is excellent and
Thanks agian.

I can not inset an object (jpg image) using Create from file. I get told
that 'It is not possilbe to create that link'. I've tried linking images
from my local machine and from project directories on our network. I can
not link any in this way. Also, I can use the Creat New button in Insert
Object to creat my links but others are not able to edit those images in my
files. The edit button is greyed out or not available. We are using
PowerPoint 2003. Any suggestions? Is it an ownership question?

I have custom animation on images and when I need to make changes to these
images I need to reapply the animation. It gets to be a little time
consuming.

Sometimes others here will want to make changes to powerpoints that someone
else has done, and when they try to edit my inserted object images, the edit
button is greyed out. Not sure what to do. I was looking for a time saver.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Steve,

I tried the link and it did work great until I kicked the table my computer
was on and then it did break. I'll check into fixlinks and see how that
works. Also, I never saw that you could link an image this way. Thanks
again.

I'm still not having any luck creating an OLE to a jpg imagne. I'm using
Powerpoint 2003.
I Insert>Object> Create From File > Browse>select link and get the message
'Impossible to create link to...'
I can link to .doc files and .psd files but not to a .jpg file. It does not
seem to matter where the jpg is. I've tried from somewhere on our network
to on my local hard drive. When I click on the jpg file, it opens in
window's picture viewer.
File size isn't a issue for me as of yet.
