OLE links damaged by macro???

What might cause embedded objects (equation objects) in an original document
to become "unlinked" in a new document that is created by running a macro in
the orig. doc which marks portions of the orig. doc as "restricted"? When
this macro is run to produce the 2nd doc, the equation objects display in the
2nd doc as blank squares. When one double clicks on the squares, one brings
up the Equation toolbar and the objects subsequently appear to display
properly but the links are lost (i.e., if one goes to Edit>Links in the orig.
doc, the update link option is available. However if one tries to go to
Edit>Links in the 2nd doc, the Links option is ghosted/unavailable.) Somehow,
the OLE links are being corrupted by the macro process...Also, in the 2nd
doc, when one goes to the page that contains the equation objects, one
receives an error that says there is not enough memory or disk space to
display or print the picture. It seems to see the equation objects as
pictures, no longer editable equations.

G'day "MaryC" <[email protected]>,

When a document is protected, the user is not supposed to be able to
edit much content. Those sorts of changes that are not effected
directly in a range, such as Links or Style changes, are 'banned' by
the protection.

If you programatically unprotect the document, many of those features
are now available again, and you can then reprotect the document
without resetting the form fields.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?TWFyeUM=?=,

Without seeing what the code does when it creates the second document it's
impossible to offer an opinion.
