On Hold Tasks - need your advise

Hi,

I would love to here from your experience.
What do you with tasks that become "on hold"?
sometimes it is a task and somtimes it is a project that alrady
started and some of the tasks are finished.
I do not want to delete these tasks / projects.
I already use the date of 01/01/06 to simbloe tasks that are waiting
to have priority from the manager (tasks that connot be completed due
to very busy resources)

Thanks,
Hanni

It really rather depends on your setup and what you want to model.

If the on-hold tasks are actually part of a project, then not working on
them will have an effect on the project end date. If you do not work on
them then either the deliverables from the project will change or the
project will not complete.

If the task cannot be worked on because resource is too scarce then that
means that they have a lower priority than other tasks. Then my plan
would represent that and when levelling I would give those tasks a low
priority so that they get pushed out into the future.

If you have an overall view of your resource profile then you should be
able to see when you might fit them in.

If you have projects which you cannot work because of insufficient
resoruce availability then you could identify them as a category of
prospects and use them to drive your recruitment plans or too highlight
to your senior management how short of resource you are.
