This may help someone. We've only encountered the problem once but it was
very frustrating.
Outlook 2000 (SP1) stopped responding when trying to view "Outlook Today" in
web page mode. The web page was Outlook default; it had never been
modified/customized. When "Outlook Today" was not in web page mode, there
was no problem accessing it. And no problem accessing any of the mailbox
folders (Inbox, Calendar, Tasks, Journal, etc), regardless of whether Show
Home Page was turned on or off -- as long as we did not click Outlook Today,
Outlook worked fine, and it always opened to Inbox. Same issue, same user,
regardless of computer. Tried user on several computers. Had to end Outlook
using Task Manager. Searched KB and web for issues on Outlook Today, but
nothing we found worked or applied. Even installed SP3, did not fix problem.
Turned out to be a problem with the calendar. This was not apparent, cause
calendar opened fine with no errors. Calendar had appointment that showed
"none" for start and end times (saw this when viewed calendar by Active
Appointments). When opened, appointment showed same time (i.e., 3:30) for
both start *and* end time. Had to change both times to eliminate the "none".
That fixed problem with Outlook Today. (Note: Calendar also showed conflict
for two recurring appointments, but fixing/deleting these did *not*
eliminate Outlook Today problem.)
