One Chart made from different worksheets?

Jan

I'm struggling with making one chart based on data from 2
worksheets. (Comparing Budget vs Result)
The formats in both sheets are equal, but after selecting
the cells in both sheets and selecting the Chart-symbol,
it seems that just data from the last selected sheet have
been collected and i don't get the data from the other.

Is it possible at all, to generate charts based on
different worksheets?

Hi Jan

the way i always do it is to make the chart based on one worksheet (select
range with headings & press the F11 key), then i go to the second
worksheet - select the range with the headings again & copy it, now go to
the chart and choose edit / paste from the menu.

this should give you what you want.

Sure, however for me the trick is to select the range in the first worksheet and click on the chart symbol, then, after pressing next in the chart wizard, go to the series tab and add a new series, this time from the other worksheet.

Hope this helps - come back if you get lost.

Thank You very much!!
If I understand You correct, You copy & paste the
neccessary fields from the second sheet into cells in the
first one and the then make the chart?

Hi Jan

no, copy & paste the values from the second sheet directly into the chart.
(just make sure that you get the headings) e.g.
if sheet 1

A B C
1 Jan Feb
2 Forecast 10000 15000

then i would select from A1 to C2 & press the F11 key, this will give me my
chart

now if sheet 2

A B C
1 Jan Feb
2 Actual 8000 22000

i would select A1 to C2, copy it & go to the CHART created above and choose
edit / paste
