One letter changing

Have a postcard doc - and in the first line is a bold small caps word
"Great" and the first letter changes to an "A". So changed the word to
"Eternal" and the same thing happened. Have used Word since v. 1.0x for the
Mac and through various incarnations on the Dark Side also. Google nor MS
help are my friend on this. So I am turning to this esteemed forum. No need
to hum the Twilight Zone theme - it won't leave my head ;-(

If my theory is right. Eternal should have started with an r

Play with the drop cap menu. v.X had a bug where the dropped caps
appeared in tiny type. You might be losing the first three letters to
1pt drop caps.

The solution was changing out the dash between the words to a tilda. Have no
idea at all why it worked - and don't really care - lost too much ground so
far. No drop caps in use. Straight text was bolded and small capped - same
formatting I have used for a decade!
