I need info on restricting a person to one vote on a web site. I would use a
form and put the names of the persons - and each would have a check box. I
know I can have them only vote one check box per visit to my web site, but is
there a way to prohibit this visitor from coming again to the site and voting
again?

Thanks for the prompt reply. My technical knowledge does not include
cookies. I will have to go to "Cookie School 101" to learn. I went to the
websunlimited site and viewed the "Get Value from Form Field and Store Value
from Form Field" help tutorial - but not sure I completely understand how I
would use it.

I have a couple of questions. This is a component I add to my Front Page -
does Microsoft and Front Page approve this componentd and do they play nice
together? Where do I find the cookie information from my visitors? In my web
logs? Would I use the cookie form for their name? We would like the voting
to be anonymous. If they have to put their name in my form - that could be
my voting control and I really would not need to use a cookie.

Thanks for any additional information you can give to a cookie neophite. Pat

Do you have a better idea? You can't track the IP as they may be on dynamic IPs.

What happens if the cookie is then deleted?

Hi Pat,

We have been on the MS FrontPage Add-in since 1998. Our J-Bots 2002 demo is the number 4 requested addin.

Using the J-Bots cookies you'd use set value when they enter the confirmation page for the vote and you'd use the cookie redirect on
the voting page, i.e., if the cookie set in cookie set value is present redirect to a page that tells them they can only vote once.

P.S. You don't need to know anything about cookies to use them.
