OneNote 07 and Outlook 07

I find the coexistence of these 2 products to be baffling. Yes the 07
versions have increased the integration between the 2 but I still can’t
figure out a decent workflow. I am a heavy user of Outlook’s journal and I
am currently using ritePen to handwrite notes directly into the journal. I
don’t automatically create journals but I do use categorizing. I see the
benefit of using OneNote for note taking but it doesn’t have the categories
or a way to easily query the notes similar to the journal. Am I missing
something?
Thanks,
Ken

I am with you part way. I have used Outlook with Journal since 97 as a sort
of mini-CRM program. It has worked so far, but lacks some organization. I had
hopes for BCM, but that created a totally seperate database, not updateable
on a PocketPC or Palm and won't integrate with 10 years worth of Journal
entries. I am learning OneNote since last year. It does provide SOME
organization in relation to Outlook. It would be nice if somebody wrote
something on how to set this up. OneNote is a pretty neat program for
gathering different types of material in one spot. It MIGHT be useful in
doing something like BCM does, in gathering common contact information into
one spot provided you can still get at everything from withing Outlook. Is
there the ability to link to multiple contacts (like Journal can)? There is a
quick "send to OneNote" but what about a link to contact from within OneNote?
BCM seems to be unusable for those of us with an active Journal archive or
those of us who have to enter contact activity on a pocket unit and snyc.

It is actually pretty easy to link onenote notes with an Outlook contact. Go
to the contact in Outlook, open it, and on the ribbon you should see a button
to link the contact to your notes in OneNote. Clicking that button will
create a page in onenote that contains a link back to the outlook contact.
the next time you click the button in outlook, you will be taken to the notes
about that contact in onenote.
