Onenote 2007 and Outlook Express

Ajay Malkani

Hi.

I don't really want to use outlook but wish to use onenote.

Can outlook express have a send to onenote button like outlook and IE? Seems
odd that it should be left out of this integration-

Thanks,
Ajay

Outlook Express does not have such a button. What makes you think it
should?

Well- its an email program lot of people use and would be nice to save
entire emails without having to cut and paste etc- same use for the same
reason as outlook-

Any way to do it? Would be great for me.

Thx,
Ajay

Actually, it kind of does make sense that OE should have that button.
Especially when you consider that one of the packages for Office 2007 won't
contain Outlook.... Looking at it from that viewpoint, an add-in/utility to
add that button might be a very useful thing to have....

True. I didn't think about the student package. But then you have to
cover OE and its Vista successor.

cover OE and its Vista successor.

Just a few question from an OE fan (who'd hate to give it up):
Is the latter contained in Vista?

Can OE be still used besides it?

Does "Windows Mail" have a NewsReader (newsgroup handler) integrated?

Where could I read more about that?

Actually, it kind of does make sense that OE should have that

As a true OE fan (who still prefers it very high over using Outlook):
I doubt that a button would be needed.

And I'm sure that it will never be introduced.
AFAICS OE is *dead* [siiiiigh].
There will a toatlly new tool in Vista and IE 7 comes without OE.
So: Who at MS will care foabout the needs of these "backwoods people"
still using OE.
Especially when you consider that one of the packages for Office

Having been using OneNote and OE together for quite some time now, I
did not yet see the need for a button.
Copy+Paste works pretty fine and does the job (at least for me).

And: Will OE still run under Vista at all??

I am an OE fan (and hardly use Outlook - out of many good reasons, Me
thinks).

I have been doing quite a lot of things with OE and OneNote.
And it works pretty fine for Me.

1.) Sending mail with OE did work fine with the OneNote 2007 Beta
(contrary to Outlook not working).

2.) If I want to store anything from a mail in ON it's not more than
just 2 steps - no Cut+Paste needed, just Copy+Paste:
a) Mark a mail (or a news-psoting) in the preview widow;
b) Click on Edit | Copy;
c) Open ON an use "Insert".

The *whole* of the mail (incl. the "To:" and "From:" and "Subject:"
fields will be inserted in ON. And one can then edit the stuff there
(if needed).

As far as inserting OE-mails in ON is concerned, things as to my
experience work ways easier and better than with Outlook.

What might you be missing????

Windows Mail is the successor (with new name) of OE. Vista still has
a
newsreader.

Thanks, Patrick.

Main question remaning:
Can OE still be used under Vista (besides Windows Mail)??

The way MS did treat OE in the last years (they did not really care
about it) i fear that there will be no way to import the data into the
new file format.
So my main concern is what I would do with the tons of stuff (mail as
well as "archived" newsgroup stuff) ...

Windows Mail is the next version of OE. So I would assume that OE data
can be imported, but I haven't tried it yet.

The use a completely different file format.
So I doubt the old stuff can be imported.

Apart: Still wondering if OE may still be used uder Vista or if using
the successor will be a must.
