OneNote 2010 backup and retrieve

T

Tony Vella

I have just bought and installed OneNote 2010 on a Vista machine with Office
Pro 2003 and I have a couple of questions about backup and retrieve of
notebooks before I get too far into a project.

i. Should something go wrong with my original, how do I retrieve a backup?
ii. I am using the 'save as' function to save the entire notebook as a
..onepkg file. What can I do with a .onepkg file - I can't even seem to
open it with anything?

A newbie but we all have to start somewhere. Thanks in advance for all
assistance.

How did you solve it?

I just copy the notebooks, as with any stuff I back up, to various external
media.
(I'm using Win7 & Office2010)

What has been suggested to me is the following:

Set the automatic backup to every x minutes (I have every 15 minutes
because I'm paranoid)
Then I copy the backup folder to an ext hard drive.

I have not had to retrieve anything from the backup yet but I was told to
select the notebook, select file, select open backups, select the page,
section, etc to retrieve. I tried one page and it worked fine.

TIA.

Well, this prompted me to set my auto-b/u to more than 1/day; I don't do a
lot of notebooking all the time or anything.

I do, as I said, copy my notebooks themselves from the ON directory to
external HD if I've been doing a bunch of stuff.
