Only few users added in "Manage users"were added to"People and gro

Hi!
I've made an extension to the pwa and configured it to use FBA following the
article here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb975136.aspx (except I
specified my own implementation of MembershipProvider and changed the
extension's login page to my own custom login page that performs the
authentication without using MembershipProvider and redirects user to the
main page). After that I've created few users using Server Settings -> Manage
users. When trying to log on their accounts I've found out that some get
Access Denied and some are succesfully logged in. I've noticed that in Site
Action -> Site Settings -> People and Groups there are only few of all the
users that I've added - and they are the ones who can log in. What may have
happened? I can't see any difference between adding any of the users. Isn't
the default action that after adding a user through "Manage users" it is also
added to "People and Groups"? Finally: how can I fix this?

Did you put your users in the Project Server security groups? If so, which
ones? Typically the PWA People and Groups is populated based on who's in
what Project Server group.

Yes, they were all added to "Team Members" group when creating. So "People
and Groups" is typically populated with members of which groups?

It's not really based on groups per se. PWA looks at what Project Server
permissions are assigned to each individual - generally by groups, then
assigns SharePoint levels of permissions accordingly.

First thing I would do is look at levels of permissions in Project Server to
identify discrepancies amongst your users.

Other thoughts:

1) Add the missing users directly to the SharePont Users group and see if
that works. That would rule out FBA wackiness.
2) In 2003, you sometimes had to sync the Project Server with PWA. That
hasn't been an issue in 2007.

Permissions are exactly the same for all users except administrator.
They were all added in exactly the same way.

When I add the missing users directly to the "People and groups" it
works, but the problem is not in FBA because it occurs also when
adding AD users, not only with FBA users.

I have found out that these problems start probably always when i
restart the server for the first time - when I log in there is
OWSTIMER process that uses 99% CPU and adding users stops working.

I'd recommend you repost with OWSTIMER in the header if you suspect that
would be the cause.

It definitely does appear to be something odd happening - particularly if
you're having the same issues with AD.
