Open 1.0 Pub File in Publisher 2003 XP Office version

I have some old .pub files that are dated 1992. I assume these are Publisher
1.0 files. Am I just screwed, or is there any way to open these files in
Publisher 2003?

When I try to open the files, it seems to start to load in Publisher, then
it stops and displays an error saying "cannot open file".

I don't have Norton Anti-Virus. I have Macafee Anti-virus and I disabled it.

Publisher 1.0 files will not open in any version of Publisher later than
Publisher 2.0
You will need to find someone with Publisher 2.0, get them to open and save
the files, and the resulting Publisher 2.0 files should open in Publisher
2003.

Publisher 2.0 files, then you can open them in Publisher 2003.

*update*

I too was unable to open his files in Publisher 2003. The files did open in
Publiser 2.0, so I saved them all as 2.0 files. Publisher 2003 had no
problem opening those files. Converted and sent to Eric.
