Open 2001 workbook

I received a 2001 workbook file (win/mac???).

Get this error msg.

Fn cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be
trying to access a read-only location. Or the server the document
is stored on may not be responding.

The file is on the desktop ­ double-click doesn¹t work
Open from the file menu doesn¹t work.

I'm running Mac Office 2001 on a G4 w/ OS 9.2.2

I asked sender to re-send - sameo sameo

Any thoughts or solutions?
