Open a file link in PPT

PPT 2003

Why is it that PowerPoint opens file-links in their associated
program, but opens JPG's in Internet Explorer only? When I create an
in-slide link using Hyperlink or Action Setting to open a file, they
open in their associated program, but if it's a graphic file such as a
JPG, it opens it in IE, which is not the associated program for that
file type. (My associated program is IrfanView.)

Is this normal or is my PPT broken? Is there a setting for this
somewhere?

Thanks,
Melina

Thank you Steve! At least now I can stop trying and let my forehead
heal. <g>
