open a powerpoint viewer file in pp

how do I get a PP file to open as a normal pp file not pp-viewer

I'm guessing you need to rename the file from

whateveritisnow.pps to whateveritiscalled.PPT

If what TAJ said does not cure the problem, then you may need to change the
file association from the PowerPoint Viewer to PowerPoint program by right
clicking on the file, select properties and change the Opens with to
Microsoft Office PowerPoint.

it says powerpoint can't read: then it gives the file path

In another thread, you (I think it was you, anyway) said you'd tried all the
suggestions. Did you try everything listed here:

I had same problem and loading service pks 1&2 solved it for me
