Open and Close Issues- Pls help

I would appreciate any ideas on what might be happening
here. There are two primary intermittent issues with
Word 2002/XP Pro:

1. When Word opens it does not open in a full window.
The window can be resized and otherwise works OK.

2. When a document is closed, the Word app. closes.

There are no error messages and nothing in the event
log. I have removed all .tmp files, and looked for clues
of issues to no avail. Should I reinstall Word and hope
it resolves the issue? While these aren't huge issues in
the scheme of things, the user is getting quite
frustrated resizing and re-opening the app.

Hi Diane,

Are you able to Maximize the Word window? If it is maximized and then
closed does it retain the maximized state after restarting?

Also, if you are encountering errors upon exiting Word then settings
such as window size/state are not saved. So resolving the second issue
could resolve the first. :)

How are you closing the document? Are you using File/Close? Clicking
the "Close" command in the upper right corner? Using a Close command
on a toolbar?
