Open and Save As Stops Responding

Everything else works fine. I put the Service Pack 3 but it's not fixed. For
any of the Office Program it stops responding when I try to browse the
file/folder for Open & Save As File Menu Options. Is there any patch?
Appreciate information.

Thanks.

I tried your method on my user's PC, and it didn't solve the problem. She had
no disconnected network drives. Any other ideas??

thanks,

I prefer Open My Computer and look for red X's. Broken
connections/locations don't need a drive letter.

There were no network drives with red X's for disconnecting, and there
weren't network drives listed as "Disconnected Network Drive" either. Any
other ideas??

Pub Question

I am having exactly the same problem, I have done a fix and repair on my
hardrive, I have turned off indexing and turned it back on, I have done a
defrag, I have tried to change the file settings in Tools, options, file
locations and even trying to find a file that way hangs the system. I can't
get to my documents other than going to my documents directly and copying and
pasting a file I need into an email and sending it to somewhere else for me
to work on it. Any function in Excel, Outlook, Word which requires me to
search for a file (open a file, attach a file to an email) causes the program
to not respond. Even if I directly open a file through my computer and try
to do a save as it goes to not responding as well.
HELP - the computer is useless!

YES...I downloaded Microsofts Beta Version Live OneCare and it found Adware
that Norton did not find. Once I installed this, checked for updates, did all
the scans, it found and removed the adware. Then I rebooted my PC and the
problem was gone!

Michele,
ps, none of the below options worked for me.
