Open Dialogue locking

In Office 2003 I open the Word, Excel or Powerpoint program as normal and
it's fine. However when I File --> Open and then try to change the drop down
box for where my file is located the dialogue box freezes and I have to "End
Task" it. Prior to clicking on the drop down box I tried changing the
location by clicking on the shortcuts on the left hand side and they work
fine. I can also double click on any document and the applicable application
opens.

Any one else found a solution to this type of problem?

Never mind I saw a post earlier in this list dealing with the issue and the
resoltion worked for me.
