"Open Enterprise Global" grayed out

Melissa

Hello-

I currently run Project Professional 2002 against Project Server 2003.
I have permissions to open the global template but the option to
"Open Enterprise Global" is grayed out. I have seen similar posts
here but not with Pro 2002/Server 2003 combo. Any suggestions?

Thanks-
Melissa

You must be logged into Project Server through Microsoft Project
Professional before you can open the Enteprise Global or use any other
enterprise features. Here's how to set it up:

1. Launch Microsoft Project
2. Click Tools - Enteprise Options - Microsoft Project Server Accounts
3. Click the Add button
4. Enter a name for the login and the URL for your Project Server instance
5. Click the Test Connection button to verify a valid URL
6. Select the "Set as default account" option
7. Click OK
8. Select the "Manually control connection state" option
9. Click OK

Now close Microsoft Project Professional and relaunch the software. Click
the Connect button and you are now connected to Project Server. You should
be able to open the Enterprise Global file. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. Our administrator looked into this further and it turned
out that it was the firewall. He explained that the client actually
connects to the SQL server directly, rather than via Project Server,
but those ports were closed. Thought I would just post our solution
here in case others are working through setup issues.

Thanks-
Melissa
