Hi,
Yesterday I began experiencing a peculiar problem with Excel regarding open
files.
I normally open four or five Excel files when processing invoices, in
addition to four or five Word files for those same invoices. Normally I work
through the files, moving from one to the next making the changes required
for that particular week's invoicing. I have been processing invoices in that
manner for several years with Office 2003.
Yesterday, however, as I was moving from one Excel file to another, two or
three of the files would just disappear. The were not showing as minimized at
the bottom of the screen, nor were they shown on Window drop-down list. They
just arbitrarily closed on their own.
The only two things that I can think of regarding recent changes are the
installation of Autodesk Vault (a file control utility that was installed as
part of Autodesk Inventor 11, and which placed a toolbar in Excel and Word)
and 3DConnexion's 3DxWare (installed for a 3DConnexion Space Traveler 3D
motion controller).
I suspect that the problem is with 3DxWare software running in the
background because after I killed that application, I did not experience the
problem with files disappearing from Word or Excel. (Also, with Vault, I was
not logged into that service at the time the files were disappearing.)
I realize this is probably an issue that should be directed to other boards;
but, I thought I would post it here, too, just in case someone else may have
experienced the same problem.
Any ideas?
