open files dialog box

When I go to File/Open I get the standard dialog box. It gives you the
choice of displaying files as lists, icons, details, etc. Normally you can
select whatever format you want (I like lists) and then whenever you open the
dialog box in the future it is in that selected format until you change it.
Suddenly my PowerPoint2003 always open in the details format, no matter how I
leave it. Excel and Word work just fine.

I am running winxp pro sp2.

Is this a registry corruption that I can fix or what?

I can do this in "windows explorer" by setting the view to LIST and then
tools>folder options>view>apply to all folders

I know that others report this doesnt work but for me it did and I am also
using Windows XP sp2 and ppt 2003 (sp2)

Thanx John. I tried it. Worked fine for Explorer but had no effect on the
PowerPoint dialog box. Any other ideas?
