Open Splitform and Activate first record

I have a splitform which opens via a command button. When I open the
form, I see the content of the first record in the form portion of the
screen, however in order to click in one of the text boxes on the form
portion, I am required to select the row from the datasheet portion of
the splitform.

Is there a way to automatically activate the record that is displayed
in the form portion so that I can immediately edit the record without
having to select the row from the datasheet portion of the screen?
