Open with dialog box

I have an attachment that does not contain an extension. When I click on it
to open I get an Open With box to choose what program to open the file with.
Another user in my office does who is using an older version of Outlook does
not get the Open With box. Can I set the older version to get the Open with
box or is a feature only on newer versions of outlook?

If there is no file extension, how does the computer know what to open it
with? It means there is no file association.
This isn't a function of Outlook but a function of Windows. If you know what
application opens the file, set that in Windows Explorer.

The "Open with" box just means that you have a file type/extension that
isn't registered with a program and the operating system/program can't
complete the request until you tell it what program should be used to open
the file.

Out of curiosity, what is the extension on the file you are trying to open?
(This would be the characters after the "." in the file name if my techno
babble is too much. ;)

It was a jpg file. I used Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to open it up. I
guessed that it was a pic b/c of the file size, adobe didn't work so I tried
the Picture and Fax Viewer. I saved the file using .jpg and was able to open
it. My boss is the other user and wanted me to set hers up to use the
function of the Open With box. I do ok with the Office suite but I know
NOTHING about the OS systems
