Internet Explorer and it opens fine. All the crit updates
to Windows XP, and the Office updates have been done. THe

Are there any errors when you try to open it? What does the url look like?

If you open My Computer | Select Tools | Folder Options | File Types |
select DOC | Advanced | Open | Edit, what information is on the Editing
Action ... Window?

Application used is
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10
\WINWORD.EXE" /n /dde
Use DDE is turned ON
DDE MEssage is [REM _DDE_Direct][FileOpen("%1")]
Application is winword
DDE Application not running is blank, and Topic is System.
I have 2 PC's. Mine fails, the other doesn't. They are as
identical as I can possibly make them. XP Pro with all
the updates, Office XP Pro with all the updates. Panda
Internet Security with all the updates. I've removed
Panda on Mine, did Windows XP Repair, removed and re-
installed Office, Removed Panda. Whatever I do it still
fails. Originally, the file open / save window would
appear, I select Open and the file appears to download
then nhothing happens. Today Word opnes and I geta
message saying the the file cannot be found, gives an
address of c/..../o32xyz/okl32. These appear to be
Outlook Secure Folders in the Temporary Internet Files
folder, which are not visible to anybody.
any help will be much appreciated.
Regards
Bob

First of all, let's unhide hidden file and protected OS files...
Open My Computer
Select Tools | Folder Options
Check the option to show hidden files and folders
uncheck the options to hide file extensions and protected operatig system
files

Check your Registry (Start | Run | REGEDIT)
Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security
Is there a value named, "OutlookSecureTempFolder"? If so, this is where
Outlook is storing your temp files. It would be from that folder you'd
probably want to remove all temp files and see if Outlook behaves.

If that value doesn't exist, you should see a folder under Temporary
Internet Files beginning with OL in the name. That's where it's putting the
files instead. If you clear them out, does Outlook behave?

What happens if you open Word first, and then open Outlook and try to open
one of these files?
