OpenDatabase in Acc2K on a Win2K machine causes Access to crash

Good morning. I have a mixed Win2K/WinXP Acc2K/Acc2K3 environment,
connecting to a back end DB. If I call OpenDatabase on a machine running
Acc2K on Win2K, Access crashes and sends a love note to Bill. Machines with
Acc2K3 or WinXP, or both, run fine. Interestingly, one Win2K+Acc2K machine
does work; this one had had Acc2K3 installed on it, and then soft-uninstalled
back to 2K.
Any ideas? This has me stumped, I've been trolling Google with no luck.
