Opening 2007 file from Windows Explorer

P

PaulW

I have installed the 2007 Beta version in parallel with my existing 2003
installation.

When I double click on an Excel file in Windows Explorer, it fires up Excel
2007 but does not open the file. A further double click in Explorer then
attempts to open the file twice.

I have not tested this with other Office applications as these still default
to Office 2003 (which works fine on a double click).

Hi Paul,

If you haven't already restarted the PC since installing 2007 you may find that doing so helps.

Since you're running in parallel one or more add-ins for Excel or your security settings in Excel 2007 may be at work.

See if you get the same results if you start Excel 2007 first and then use File=>Open to open the file and check your security
settings from Office Button[file]=>Excel Options=>Trust Center.

You may also want to run the Office Diagnostics from the Excel Options to see if that helps.
