Opening a document and Word adds formatting

H

A client is opening a document and Word 2003 adds formatting where he doesn't
want it. This includes numbers, letters, lines in the wrong place etc. He
wants to be able to open the document and amend it every week/month etc with
updated figures, without having to undo all the unsolicited formatting. Any
ideas please?

Start by under Tools > Templates and Add-Ins unchecking the box to update
styles.

Then he needs to turn off a bunch of AutoFormat as you Type options,
especially the ones that let Word guess what style you want to use, insert
borders, and automatically update styles.

He may also have to change the styles to turn off automatic updating.
