Opening a File: Text converter error

M

manuel

When I try to open a file I get the following message: "PowerPoint can´t read
the outline from XXXXX.ppt. No text converter is installed for this file.

The XXXX.ppt file is a file I get in an email and which I have saved
changing the name. If I don't change the name I can open the file.

The error also happens in other instances.

Thanks in advance,

I think the obvious workaround is not to change the name.

Try saving the file to the harddrive, *then* changing the name. Does that
work?

What are you changing the name to?

I do save it to the harddrive. I have tried different names (usually just add
a 2 at the end) but it makes no different.

I know the obvious is to not change the name, but I have to.

Thanks,

Manuel

I would use File | Save As and save the file with the new name, then.

This is very unusual, though. Does it happen with only this one emailed
file, or does it happen with other files, too?
