Opening a template

I've created a template for my future diagrams. I have 2
issues:

1) When I open the document within VISIO, it opens up the
template, not a new "drawing". Work around is saving the
template as read only.
2) When above is accomplished, the file is opened as read
only, but still a "template" type file. You have to do a
save as and remember to change the type to Visio
document. Then, if you wanted to prompt user to enter
some document property information, it does not do so.

These are not a problem if the user opens the document
outside of Visio.

How are you opening the template? Is it through code or manually?

You can Open a template to change, but if you want to create a drawing based
on the template you need to choose New and base the drawing on the template.
