Opening Access 2K Databases

I am having an issue of not being able to open Access 2000
databases. The machine is a new Windows 2K Professional.
When I try to open a database I just get a pop-up with the
yellow caution that says "UNKNOWN." I can open any other
forms that were created, just not the tables.
I have tried to un-install/reinstall, the Office 2000
Eraser, update to all the latest Windows and Office
service packs and nothing seems to correct the problem.
The next step is rebuilding the machine. Any ideas short
of doing that would be appreciated.
