Opening an existing powerpoint presentation

When I double click on a powerpoint presentation I have
already made, Powerpoint will open up, but the box to
create a new presentation comes up. The only way for me
to open up the presenation I was is by choosing open an
existing presentation from the options and then I have to
go and find it. Anyone know why the presentation doesn't
just open up like it is suppose to.

I went to start, run, and then pointed to where the
powerpoint exe file was and I got an error. The person is
also opening a ppt file, so I don't think that is the
problem. The person is able to open the file he just has
to allows find the file, even though he clicks on it.
