On one of our outlook machine, we can not open attached excel worksheets. We
can forward it to any of the other 5 machines in the office and open it then.
We have Office 2000 on all the machines. Where do we specifiy that a
certian type of extention can be allowed to be opened?

1. What happens when you try?
2. Is Excel installed on all the computers?
3. If you save the Excel attachment to disk, can you then open it in Excel
by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer?

When he clicks on the attachment it returns a window that states " Cant
create file filename.xls Right click the folder you want to creat the file
in then click properties to check permissons for the folder" It only has an
OK button. Nothing happens when he clicks OK.
I have also tried openning it by right clicking and doing "save" and the
"save as", open with, I have check the open with extensions assosiations they
are all indicating that Excel is the correct program for all excel
extensions.
I have tried opening Execl first then opening the attachment that did not
have any effect.
I also check the permissions for the My Documents they appear fine, this is
a stand alone unit (it is on a network to share the internet but the
computers in the office are all stand alone units and he is the administrator
on his computer.
Thanks,
Antony

Does this happen *only* with Excel attachments?
Can you "save as" to another location, like c:\temp, and name the file what
you wish - then open it?

Have you cleaned up all his temp folders?

Just emailed him word and Power Point attachments. He can open both of them.
I did try and save to the C: Drive under a different name.
Have not emptied temp folder.

Not just his temp folder - all temporary files. What client OS? In 2k/XP,
there's the disk cleanup in the programs\accessories\system tools menu.
