Opening .doc attachment takes ages from Outlook

I have a user using Office 2003 (Basic) on a Windows XP Pro machine.

The computer is part of a domain.

Every time she receives email in Outlook with a word doc as an attachment,
it takes ages (1 - 2 minutes) to open.

Opening word directly is immediate.

If I log in as a different user, everything works as it should (ie.
immediately)

I am therefore concluding that it is something specific to her user account.
I have tried making her an administrator, etc. with no effect.

I have ruled out antivirus interference and journal settings.

Can anyone advise?

I would suggest re-creating the user's profile - try the Outlook profile
first and if that doesn't solve the problem, then delete and re-create the
Windows profile.

We have seen many strange behaviours due to a bad Windows profile.
