Opening Excel Files

FOr the last couple of days since I tried to open and Excel file created with
2007 on my home laptop on my office PC (which runs Office 2003), I have been
unable to double click Excel files and open them from My Documents. I have to
start Excel the click File and Open. Has anyone else had this problem or know
how to correct it?

Apparently I had checked the "Ignore other applications" box thinking that
would keep Excel on top of other applications, but forgot to uncheck it when
it didn't do what I expected it to. I went to the Microsoft Site and found
the answer. But thanks for the suggestions!

I have met similar problem but not solved yet. It is concerned only Exel
2007. I try to open a .xls file by doubleclicking on it but only blank Excel
screen is seen (without an error). If I minimize the window suddenly the file
is opened.
The checkbox "Ignore other applications" is cleared - it doesn´t help.
Any other idea? Thanks

This is happening to us, but mostly with Word.

Learn to ask Excel-specific questions in Excel-specific newsgroups.

Tools > Options, select the General tab in the Options dialog, uncheck
Ignore other applications, click OK. This is been asked AND ANSWERED at
least twice a week in the Excel newsgroups.
