B Bernie Deitrick May 14, 2004 #2 Bernie B, The file may be corrupted. You can attempt to open the file with StarOffice, which apparently has better luck with corrupted Excel files than Excel itself does :-(. HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP

D Dave Peterson May 15, 2004 #3 And a link: http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-65 meg download or a CD And to the OP: Any chance you opened the file in MSWord and saved it as a word document (even with a .xls extension)? If yes, then you might be able to save a little bit by reopening in MSWord and copy|pasting back into a new workbook in excel.
