Opening Files in Excel - Runs real slow

Hello - I have a couple of users that areopening files
from excel, these files are on a network share. The files
take forever to open. The files are not very big. When we
open the files from explorer they open up no problem. It
is just when you are in Excel and try to open a file,
that is when it just sits there and takes over 5 minutes
to open if at all.

Hi,

Not sure, but you might check for virus checking..
I've noticed that my Word and Excel docs take a while
to open now (Win2000 w/Office 2003) - status bar
shows virus checking... don't know when I turned this on..

Just some guesses:

Try closing excel and cleaning up your windows temp folder--it might help and it
can't hurt.

And if you copy them from the network drive to the local harddrive, then open
them in excel, does the speed come back?
