Opening files

After clicking on File, Open,;

When I click on the "My Documents" button on the left
toolbar the application locks up.

I am able to go to the "My Documents" folder using the
drop down menu with no problem.

Only the "My Document" button causes the application to
lock up.

This is usually because there is something in the My Documents folder that
Word doesn't like. Check and see what you have in My Documents that
shouldn't be there.
