Opening files

When I open the dialogue box and use the dropdown box to
browse for the file, Word hangs up. I get an 'Open not
responding' message. I can only open using the 'up a
level' button. This is the same in all my office
applications. Have done a detect and repair but it
doesn't change anything.

This is usually because you have an FTP link in the tree below the down
arrow.
