Opening Level 1 Attachments in Outlook 2003

Hello All,

I've done a lot of reading on attachment security for versions prior
to Outlook 2003. So my question is "Is there any way to directly open
Level 1 attachments with Outlook 2003?" My company uses shortcuts
alot and it is a hassle to have to save to disk first.

Nope, not without a 3rd party utility... namely Chilton Preview. It was
recently updated to work with Outlook 2003 and provides direct access to
attachments. It's easy to flip off and on as needed, unless you prefer a
bottom preview. The FAQ says you need to turn off outlook's preview before
tuning on Chilton, but I haven't had problems using both at once.

Jamelia - I did this and put the registry entry in. The attachment
was not blocked, but I did get the "save to disk" prompt only. Could
not directly open it.

Outlook does not support opening blocked attachments directly- if that is
your goal, use Chilton Preview, it not only allows access to the blocked
attachments, it also allows you to open them without saving them first.

Hi Diane, I installed Chilton Preview and within a day I was getting
(system resources low) and was unable to do anything in Outlook until
I disabled the Chilton preview. I have no other add-ins to Outlook.
So I'm leary of using that solution. Also, in my view, the Chilton
Preview kept coming on every time I opened the view, even if I had
turned it off previously. I guess we'll live with saving to disk.

I'm not having resource problems, but it does come on every time I start
outlook. It's not recommended to use both previews at once and that could be
why it's causing low resources for you.
