Opening pst files

In Outlook
Click on FILE
Click on DATA FILE MANAGEMENT
Select ADD
CLick on .PST (version of .pst, doesn't matter which one you select really)
Go find your backup.pst file
Select ADD
Close the window
Now you should have your backup.pst file added in outlook to view.

How do I open my backup pst files?

In Outlook go to File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate to where your
backup files are kept......be aware that Outlook requires Read/Write access
so yiou can't access files that are on a CDR for example.

Hi, This is Cheryl. The problem I have is that I do everything you have said
and I keep getting this message that reads "windows needs to know what file
has created it. I have tried all the options but nothing is working. Can
you help me?

Three simple questions:

Are you able to open Outlook?
Do you know where the PST files?
What version of Outlook?

You see, that message, you'd only get that if you double click on the file
in Windows. That isn't what the steps below asked you to do. You can't
open a PST that way. You can only open it from *within* Outlook.
