opening .pst .ost files

Hi everyone,
This ones really doing my head in...
I have an external hard drive holding a full copy of
c/drive and desktop of no longer in possession laptop
which was running XP pro and office 2003 pro.

My current laptop operating system is win 2000 pro with
office 2000 pro.

Problem - how the Fushty tumbles does one bring the
folders, contacts etc
..pst .ost files into outlook 2000 from the external hard
drive? or indeed get to open up the files from the external
hard drive.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2003 pst-files can only be opened in Outlook 2003 unless you chose
for a 97-2002 pst-file instead. If it is a 97-2002 pst-file you should be
able to open it by File-> Open-> Personal Data File...
