Opening Web

R

Robert Cohen

Hello All,
Is there a preferrable way to open a server based web? Is it better to open it at "wwwroot on bbh01" or "www.bbhtx.org". I notice my network neighborhood has both and my web is currently opened as the later but am having problems with the relative links (my internal links are relative links and always have the www.bbhtx.org root to them). Any suggestions. I would say visit it, but the site is an intranet and such requires a password.

Personally, I always use http://www.domainname.com from the FP Open Web
dialog to open a web on a server.

see that is what I thought, but when I have it that way, i can't browse for
files in my web for hyperlinking. For example, if I go to a web page in my
website and right mouse click and click hyperlink. When set to current
folder, the only items that show up are open files. When I was disked
based, I could see all my files (need to not be disked based for reasons
though). So I was hoping I was doing somethign wrong so I could see my
files.

Sound like a check on the extensions needs to be run on the server for that
web.

The server extensions run fine, but I just noticed in server extensions and
IIS, it says Site Administration for "HTTP://BBH01"
which is the computer name for server that has IIS. Shouldn't it read
HTTP://www.bbhtx.org which is the address of the website? How do you change
that (if it should be changed)? Could that be the problem?

Suggest you post this to the appropriate Windows newsgroup for your OS
version.
