Opening Word and Excel Documents

I have Office 2003 Small Business Edition. I have problems opening Word and
Excel documents. They take 5 - 10 minutes to open. I do not have any problems
opening Power Point documents. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Opening from where? A floppy disk? A network drive? A local
hard drive? An email attachment? Does this problem occur with
all Word and Excel files, or just certain ones? Did you create
these files? As a guess, see
