Opening Word doc's

Hi,
Double click and open-doc gets blank sheet. Drag & drop gets doc in a text
box. What's up?

Please explain the problem clearly. What exactly are your dragging and
dropping and from where to where? Your question makes no sense.

I don't entirely understand but dragging and dropping a Word document into
an(other) open document in Word creates a document embedded within a
document - although not in a text box. If you want to open a document that
way, drag and drop it to the title bar instead.

Hi Terry,

I'm trying to open MSFT Word doc's. If I start Word and use the "open"
folder query function to select a doc, the program opens a "Document 1"
blank. Same result with double-clicking the doc icon, or right clicking and
chosing "open with" in windows explorer ... Word opens with a "Document 1"
blank.

If I start Word and drag-and-drop a doc into the window, the page comes up
with the doc in a text box!

Curiously, when using right-click "open with", chosing Word-Pad program
instead, I'll get the editable text.

Any ideas?

Pat

Try running Detect and Repair (under the Help menu) which will reregister
Word correctly in Windows.

This is definitely a registry problem and if running a D&R doesn't resolve
the issue, then you need to ask this in a Windows NG as there is something
pretty badly wrong.
