Opening Word to a Window

I run MS Office 97 on Win ME.

For some reason Word has suddenly stopped giving me the option to open
the program to a window size I want. It either opens minimised or
maximises. The option to Restore or Resize is not there. I've tried
altering my display size up to 1200*1600 to see if it only opens as part
of the screen but it always maximises.

Can anyone help, please?

The "windowed" location is probably off screen. Try this, Open
Maximized, Restore down, Right-click on it in the Taskbar, Select Move
and then press an Arrow key. Or Restore down and then Right-click on the
Taskbar and select Cascade or Tile Windows.
