Opening worksheet

Does anyone one what the problem is when I open an existing excel file, the
program starts, but doesn't completely load to the worksheet.

In order to get to existing file, I have to open a new workbook and go
through the open icon on the toolbar to access my existing document. All
else works properly, all updates are done.

Try:

Tools > Options... > General > and clear the Ignore other apps checkbox.
